Survivor winner Sarah Lacina just dropped a bombshell

When you ask former Survivor players one change they would make to the show, there’s one answer that always seems to come up. Pretty much unanimously, the response always centers around returning the show to its 39-day roots. And in that sense, Sarah Lacina’s response of “Go back to 39 days” when asked by Entertainment Weekly lines up perfectly.

But the Game Changers winner and three-time contestant did not stop there. She has another change she would like to see: “Less clothes!”

To be clear, Lacina is not asking for more scantily clad players like the show used to trot out every season. Rather, she is commenting on the numerous wardrobe changes that contestants seem to undergo throughout a season compared to the show’s early era of one-and-done outfits. And she has some stripped-down supporters, as it were, in fellow tribemates that joined her on the Survivor 50 finale red carpet to address this hot-button topic.

“Yeah, they get jackets now and all sorts of stuff,” notes Heroes v. Healers v. Hustlers champion Ben Driebergen, who played with Lacina on the Winners at War season. “And blankets!”

“Sleeping bags!” adds Lacina, who appears to just be trolling for fun at this point.

Lacina’s Game Changers tribemate Zeke Smith (who first appeared on Millennials vs. Gen X) also has noticed the wardrobe changes over the years. “I mean, I got a jacket, but Sarah’s got like short shorts and a see-through tank top,” Zeke says. “And we’ve been talking about this. We were the original jacket people.”

“We were,” adds Lacina, who often wore Zeke’s jacket on Game Changers. “Not only were we the original jackets, but [we had] the yellow jacket — Members Only!”

“Which is the same thing as the turquoise one,” Zeke notes of the iconic teal one that showed up three seasons later on David vs. Goliath, courtesy of Lyrsa Torres. “I started that trend.”

“We are the original fashion show,” Lacina says of their Game Changers outing. Facts. Let’s just get that straight.”

The champ believes she may have also found a link between the shorter shooting schedule and bigger wardrobes.

“I think I figured out why it’s 26 days now,” she tells her former tribemates. “Because they’ve blown the budget on checked baggage to allow all the castaways all these clothes on the island.”

“Right, because everyone gets like two full 50-pound bags to bring onto the beach,” jokes Zeke.

“And [the bags] are overweight, so now they can’t afford the 39 days,” Lacina concludes.
