A tense night on CBS is set to decide who takes control — and who may be trapped in the game’s most punishing position.

Tonight on Big Brother 28 at 8/7c on CBS, the house is heading into the explosive conclusion of the Head of Household competition — and the pressure is already sky-high. After Rachel’s sudden departure, Angela, Dee, and Devens are back at the center of the action, while the 14 newcomers remain split into three teams, each desperately hoping their champion can pull off a win. And yes, CBS is giving fans another 90-minute episode, so expect plenty of drama packed into one very long, very tense night.

Thursday’s premiere delivered the first major twist of the season, bringing the initial 14 houseguests into the game before Angela, Devens, and Rachel were revealed. But the Rachel appearance turned out to be a carefully staged production twist — one that was never meant to last. Some houseguests reportedly even tried to lock in Final 2 deals with her before realizing she was never going to remain in the house for long, according to Rachel’s own interviews. Once she was out, Dee Valladares, the Survivor 45 winner, stepped in and immediately became the player to watch.

At the close of Friday night’s Unlocked episode, viewers finally saw the competition begin, with each team gripping ropes to keep the puzzle balanced while their leader worked to assemble it. It’s the kind of setup that can expose weak links fast, echoing older seasons that used coaches and cliques to force early divisions. Whether it sticks long term is another question, but for now it has already added a sharp edge to the season’s opening battle.

And the stakes couldn’t be higher. The first-place finisher earns this week’s Head of Household title, while the other two teams still have work to do if they want to avoid landing in the dreaded Have-Not room. That punishment is never pretty, and tonight’s episode should show just how miserable it can get — especially with the spinning, noisy bed the houseguests are forced to share. Brutal.

Once the HOH competition ends, the real scramble begins: alliances will need to lock in fast, and everyone else will be trying to dodge the Block at all costs. With the Block Buster twist back in play, the week is already set up to be chaotic, since three nominees will be part of the game each round while the twist remains active.
