Big Brother 28 Episode 5 Recap: Devens Wins HOH, Angela Gets Punished, and the House Explodes at Nominations
Ashley Is Gone — and the Game Resets
Sunday’s episode picked up right where Thursday left off: Ashley was evicted in a unanimous vote, and the house wasted no time readjusting. Dee confirmed the logic — Ashley had simply talked too much and everyone agreed she had to go. Meanwhile, Angela made her intentions crystal clear: Rome is her target, and she wants to be the one to take the shot.

The HOH Competition
Houseguests were dressed in country bar outfits for a paired sliding disc competition. With an odd number of players, Rick Devens received a free pass through the opening round. In Round 2, pairs competed head to head — Haley beat Chuk, Drew beat Rome, Melody beat LaTrice, Kamu beat Barrett, Lyric beat Mallory, Jason beat Taylor, and Angela beat Yash.
Round 3 switched things up: pairs combined their scores instead of competing against each other. Haley and Devens scored 78, edging out Jason and Angela’s 73 to advance to the final. In a twist nobody saw coming, Devens had planned to throw the win to Haley — but accidentally scored 35 to her 27. Just like that, Devens is the new Head of Household.

The Time Capsule Reveal — Angela Gets a Punishment
America voted Angela Murray into the BB Time Capsule — and the result was not what she hoped for. After a tense button-press challenge, she landed on the punishment side and will now spend the week completing the Hard Boiled Detective punishment from last season. It’s a brutal blow for a player already working overtime to position herself as a power player.

The Toolshed Is Born
Devens wasted no time consolidating power. He merged his two alliances — The Crossovers and The Red Corner — into one unified mega-alliance officially named The Toolshed. With everyone aligned, the plan was set: nominate Lyric, Jason, and Melody as a screen, then backdoor Rome.
Rome even tried knocking on the HOH room door during the meeting. Nobody answered.
Nominations — and Chaos Erupts
At the ceremony, Devens named Melody, Lyric, and Jason as nominees. He also dropped a bombshell: Rome had personally asked him to protect Lyric and Jason, exposing Rome’s priorities to the whole house. Jason immediately called Rome a “big liar.” Then he turned on Angela. Angela stood up to respond — and the episode cut to black, leaving fans screaming for Wednesday.

“That ending was INSANE,” one fan posted. “Big Brother 28 is the best season in years — I said what I said,” wrote another. Wednesday cannot come fast enough.
