Here's the full breakdown of when Coronation Street and Emmerdale are airing tonight, this weekend, and into next week, including the welcome return of hour-long episodes.

Tonight: Both Soaps Are On, But Cut Short
Despite the FIFA World Cup domination of ITV’s schedule, both Emmerdale and Coronation Street are airing tonight (Friday 3 July). The catch? They’re shorter than usual.
Emmerdale goes first, with a 30-minute episode from 7.45pm on ITV1. Coronation Street then follows from 8.15pm for another 30 minutes. Both are already streaming early on ITVX and YouTube if you can’t wait.
Tonight’s Emmerdale puts the spotlight on Charity Dingle and Mackenzie Boyd, as their future together hangs in the balance. Over on the cobbles, Megan Walsh’s dramatic trial finally reaches its verdict — a moment fans have been anticipating for weeks.
Monday Night: The Hour-Long Episodes Return
The big news for soap fans is that Monday 6 July brings full-length episodes back — and both shows are packing a serious punch.
Emmerdale leads off at 7.30pm with a 60-minute special. The Dingle family continues to face enormous pressure, with Cain Dingle’s troubled son Kyle Winchester creating fresh chaos. And if that wasn’t already devastating enough, the family’s beloved dog Monty is diagnosed with cancer. Brace yourselves.
Coronation Street follows from 8.30pm with its own hour-long episode — one that centres on young Alfie Webster being rushed to hospital with breathing difficulties. Newcomer Idris Nazir is in the frame after being accused of neglecting his duties as their landlord.
The Idris Nazir Story Explodes
Corrie viewers have been watching the Idris storyline build with growing unease, and Monday is when everything boils over. The businessman purchased properties from a shady seller without doing proper checks — and his tenants, including Abi Webster’s young son Alfie, are now facing the consequences.
Actor Junade Khan, who plays Idris, has explained what drives his character. When Leanne and Alya tell him the situation isn’t his fault, Idris decides to take matters into his own hands. The result involves bundling the original seller into a car and threatening him on wasteland — with Brody doing the physical dirty work to keep Idris’s own hands clean.
“He’s got this darker side when it comes to business but at the same time there’s a humanity to him,” Khan revealed. It’s a fascinating character — villain, victim, and vigilante all rolled into one — and seeing him come face to face with the fallout of his negligence, with a child in hospital, promises to be compelling television.
Tuesday Is a Blank: World Cup Takes Over
After Monday’s double-header, soap fans will have to go cold turkey on Tuesday 7 July. Both Emmerdale and Coronation Street are off air as the World Cup takes centre stage on ITV1 for the day.
Set those Monday episodes to record and make the most of them — Tuesday is a washout.
