American Pickers’ Mike Wolfe Still Checking In on Frank Fritz’s Loved Ones 6 Months After His Death

Six Months Gone — But Not Forgotten

Frank Fritz passed away on September 30 at the age of 60, following a stroke caused by cerebral vascular disease. In the months since, American Pickers fans have been left with a void — and so has Mike Wolfe. But rather than pulling away from the grief, Wolfe has quietly kept a promise to the people who loved Frank most.

“We’ve all known each other for such a long time — Chris, his brother, and Annette,” Wolfe said. “I check in with them from time to time and see what’s going on. If they have any questions in regards to some of the things they’re coming across of his, I am able to answer those for them.”

Frank’s Small, Loyal Circle

“Frank always had a very small circle. He learned early in life that he didn’t need 20 acquaintances, he just needed three or four really good friends,” Wolfe recalled. “He held onto his circle very close and was somebody that would do anything for anybody.”

“They’re all kind of stepping back and just trying to get through it themselves,” Wolfe added quietly.

The Last Moments Wolfe Will Never Forget

When Frank took his final breath, Mike Wolfe was there. “I got the call that he wasn’t doing well. I just feel blessed that I was able to get there,” Wolfe said. “I was there for about an hour before he passed, and I was holding his hand and rubbing his chest when he took his last breath. I took my fingers and I closed his eyes.”

“I just told him that I wasn’t mad at him and that I loved him and that I cared about him so much,” he said. “And then when I could see that he was struggling, I just said, ‘Just go find your mom. Go find her right now. Just go find her.'”

A Friendship That Survived Everything

Wolfe and Fritz had a complicated road together, hitting a rough patch in the years before Frank’s stroke in 2022. But in his final months, the two reconciled — and that reconciliation is something Wolfe clearly holds close. Watching Wolfe honor that memory, month after month, says everything about who he is.
