Coronation Street reveals first look at Bethany’s panic in Debbie incident
Maria to the rescue.
Coronation Street has revealed a heartbreaking development for Debbie Webster in her ongoing dementia storyline. When the businesswoman believes she is a hairdresser again, Bethany Platt kindly plays along.
However, things soon escalate as Debbie gets a little carried away in her role – leaving Bethany horrified at the mix-up. Maria Connor also witnesses the incident, and is forced to interviene.

Debbie’s confusion begins next week, when she insists on taking a business meeting at the Chariot Square Hotel. But she is mortified after accidentally arriving in her slippers and marigolds, and rushes off home.
Later, Debbie gets muddled again as she wanders into the hair salon, believing she is a stylist. Bethany doesn’t want to add to her confusion, so she kindly humours her and gets a full-blown ’80s makeover.
In a newly released spoiler clip from Thursday’s (3 September) episode, Maria enters the salon and sees Debbie admiring her own work, all while an awkward Bethany squirms in the chair.
Bethany furtively fills Maria in on the delicate situation, telling her: “Debbie is a really really good hairdresser, isn’t she? She’s done this for me, keeping me up to date with all the trends.”
Believing that Maria is also a customer, Debbie ushers her to the waiting area, before engulfing Bethany in a cloud of hairspray. Bethany continues to cooperate, but when Debbie suggests a haircut, her panic is clear.

Debbie ignores Bethany’s refusal and reaches for the scissors to take “three or four inches” off her hair. Fortunately, Maria steps in and wrestles the scissors out of Debbie’s hands before major damage is done.
A horrified Debbie then realises what’s going on, with both her and Bethany shaken from the incident. How will she cope with this latest setback? And will Maria and Bethany inform Ronnie Bailey about what’s occurred?
