Big Brother 28: ‘Icons’ Continue To Dodge The Block

A funny thing can happen on Big Brother from season to season where the HGs who get nominated start to get nominated more often while the ones who avoid it can sometimes keep that momentum. Well it’s happening again and it’s not surprising with the crowd who is pulling it off so far on Big Brother 28.

Production calls them the Icons but I’ve called them the Vets as in Reality TV Vets as compared to usually just being Big Brother alumni veterans. Bringing in those types of HGs as stunt casting can sometimes easily be elevated to a pedestal of high regard and sometimes nervousness from the Newbies when it comes to targeting them or even just putting them on the Block. And overnight conversations started to put the spotlight on it happening here.

Talking with Drew, Taylor brought up that at this point in the season all of the remaining Houseguests have hit the Block except for Angela, Dee, Devens, and as the only non-Vet, Kamu. Now of course Kamu was part of Red Corner and they controlled the game for 80% of the season so far, so his safety goes hand in hand with what their alliance did. Meanwhile that protection ran out for Chuk and Haley this week and it was Kamu’s own direct actions that saved him from their fate. But what about the Vets?

Who would go after the Vets right now? Haley and Chuk are the house targets for now and even if the remaining member of that pair gets HOH next week would they be front of mind to nominate? Angela is standing out right now from the three because of how she loves to inject herself into situations, or even to let herself be baited into them like what happened with Saturday’s arguments in the exercise room.

Meanwhile you’ve got Devens and Dee masterfully keeping a low profile. While all that Saturday chaos was happening we saw Devens lounging on the pool float and blissfully unware of what was going on upstairs. Then you had Dee actually in that room but still managing to keep herself as a wallflower through it. And I think that’s what’s going to separate the Castaways from Angela before too long. Someone will probably get frustrated with Angela and send her to the Block before they’re ready to flip on the more generally accepted Dee and Devens. But frankly, Dee would rather everyone just not mention this situation at all.

Sunday evening we saw Dee talking with Drew where he brought up the fact that the three Vets plus Kamu were the only ones left who hadn’t seen the Block. Dee’s eyes widened and basically told him to keep his mouth shut on that, stated more nicely than that though. Drew said he hadn’t really considered it until Taylor highlighted that fact to him.

Then later Dee took Drew’s comments to Kamu and wondered if it really was Taylor who brought it up or if Drew had just used Taylor’s name to distance himself from the observation. Drew has no shortage of putting himself in riskier spots because he likes to talk openly!

So which of the four untouched will be the last to hit the Block? I’d expect to see Kamu and Angela on the Block sooner than Dee or Devens and between the later, hmm, that’s a tough call. Both of the Castaways are playing excellent games and are well liked in the game especially considering they were the first two HOHs and basically left the position unscathed.
