Rick Devens Gets Left on Read by Zac Brown
You’d think surviving 50 seasons’ worth of Survivor legends would be Rick Devens’ biggest social challenge. Nope. Turns out his toughest opponent post-game is a country music superstar who simply won’t text him back.
While hanging out in the Big Brother house this summer, Devens and fellow Survivor 50 alum Dee Valladares got caught on the live feeds having a very revealing — and very funny — conversation about one of the show’s celebrity guests. The subject? Zac Brown, who made a splashy reward appearance during Survivor 50. And according to Devens, their post-show connection has been… one-sided.
“He never DM’d me back,” Devens admitted on the live cam, with a mix of amusement and genuine bewilderment.
Dee Got the DMs — Devens Didn’t
Dee, apparently, had no such problem. She confirmed that Zac did respond to her messages — which only made Devens’ situation funnier and more awkward. Dee even admitted she cried when she saw the country star walk out onto that beach during the reward challenge. Devens? He claims he had no idea who Zac Brown even was.
That detail landed perfectly. Because when you don’t know who someone is, they tend not to slide into your DMs afterward.
But Devens had a theory about why Zac Brown might not be his biggest fan. He joked — or maybe not joked at all — that the country star and castmate Joe Hunter are apparently close. “He and Joe apparently text each other,” Devens said, straight-faced.
For anyone who watched Survivor 50, that line hit differently. Joe Hunter spent the entire season as Devens’ one-sided nemesis. No matter what Devens did, Joe was upset about it. Dee’s giggle in response said everything.
One-Sided Beef, But Devens Is Ready to Squash It
To his credit, Devens isn’t holding any grudges. He made it very clear that the door is wide open — on his end, at least. “I would totally go to a Zac Brown concert if he invited me,” Devens said. “The ball is completely in his court.”
It’s a very Rick Devens move: charming, self-deprecating, and just a little bit chaotic. The man literally couldn’t remember Zac’s name when talking about him to his fellow Big Brother houseguests, and yet he’s fully prepared to show up to the man’s concert. No hard feelings.
Fans watching the live feeds clipped the exchange immediately, and the reactions came fast. Most people found the whole thing endearing — classic Devens energy, dragging everyone around him into his orbit whether they signed up for it or not.
Devens Continues His Reality TV Run
The Survivor legend’s pivot to the Big Brother house has been one of the more entertaining off-season storylines of the summer. And moments like this — unscripted, genuinely funny, and unexpectedly revealing — are exactly why fans can’t get enough of him.
As for Zac Brown: the ball really is in his court. Devens is waiting. The fans are watching. And the DMs are still empty.
MrBeast, at least, would definitely respond — after Devens made his $1 million twist must-watch TV with his all-or-nothing gameplay. A future MrBeast collab? At this rate, don’t rule it out.
