As Survivor keeps adding new names to its history books, a few records remain astonishingly rare. The show has already seen six men and six women claim the mark for most individual immunity challenge wins in a single season — a stunning 1.59% of all players. But there’s another record that is even harder to reach, and it belongs to only 0.2% of everyone who has ever played.
Only two players in Survivor history played an entire season without receiving a single vote.
That means no one wrote their name down the entire time — not in regular Tribal Council voting, and not at Final Tribal Council either. To be clear, this doesn’t include players who quit or were medically evacuated. This record is reserved for the rare few who managed to survive every vote, every scramble, and every blindside attempt without ever becoming a target on paper.
The first player to pull off this remarkable feat was Sugar Kiper in Survivor: Gabon. What makes her run even more surprising is that most of the beach never saw her as a major threat, even though she ended up being the only castaway to find a hidden immunity idol and keep it through the season without ever needing to play it. One idol was found by the tribe and tossed into the ocean, while another was never found at all.
Her path to the end was full of unusual breaks. Sugar kept getting sent to Exile Island, but once she had the idol from her first visit, later trips became more of a luxury stop than a punishment. While the rest of the game spiraled around alliances and paranoia, she was quietly sitting pretty — eating fruit, staying calm, and slipping through the season without a single vote against her.
Still, the record came with a catch. Sugar reached Final Tribal Council, but her poor social connections with the jury cost her every vote there. Even so, the path she carved out was enough to place her in a very small and elite corner of Survivor history.
Then, 18 years later, Joe Hunter repeated the impossible in Survivor 50 after previously reaching the end in Survivor 48. In his original season, he had already collected one vote against him and one vote for him at Final Tribal Council. But in his second-chance run, he went even further: alongside runner-up Jonathan Young, Joe made it all the way to Final Tribal Council without receiving a single vote against him during the season.
Jonathan ultimately earned three jury votes from his pre-game alliance friends, while the remaining votes went to winner Aubry Bracco. That left Joe as the second player in Survivor history — and the first man ever — to go through an entire season without having his name written down once.
