Exclusive: Coronation Street reveals fans should be “very worried” for David and Shona
Coronation Street stars Jack P Shepherd and Julia Goulding have exclusively revealed to Inside Soap that there could be big trouble on the way for David and Shona Platt.
The married couple have been to hell and back recently, with their baby Harper having spent the first six months of her life in hospital. Thankfully, Harper has now joined her family at No 8, but with that comes its own challenges.
“Shona is absolutely on her knees exhausted, and everyone’s constantly trying to get her to rest or have a bath,” shares Julia, who has been nominated for Best Partnership and Best Family at the Inside Soap Awards.
“She’s been having a lot of baths recently! David and Shona are both exhausted, and having Jodie around has been invaluable. But little do they know what she’s up to…”
With Jodie back at the Platt house, Shona has forgiven her sister for several sinister acts, including whacking Sarah over the head and leaving her for dead. But things are more complicated with David, whose (rightful!) instinct is that Jodie is nothing but trouble.
“Jodie craves being needed,” says Jack. “It doesn’t matter who it is or what it is; she just needs attention. That’s the obsession, in a way, with David. I don’t think it’s that she’s in love with him. It’s just that she thinks, ‘Shona likes him, so I want him’.”

And unfortunately for Shona and David, Jodie’s scheming ways are here to stay, as Julia warns us that a storm could be brewing for the pair…
“Fans should be very worried for David and Shona,” admits Julia. “Jodie is capable of all sorts of mischief, maybe something a bit darker than that.
“Deep down, I would like to think they could survive anything as a couple. But Jodie is manipulative – and she’s very good at it. So viewers should watch this space.”
