Emmerdale changes Noah Dingle exit story as Charity is left blindsided

Emmerdale has changed the details of Noah Dingle’s exit storyline, with Charity being left blindsided as a result. With the character rumoured to be leaving the Dales soon, what happened in the village tonight (4 August)?

It was reported last month that Jack Downham was set to depart the ITV soap after 17 years in the role, though this hasn’t officially been confirmed. Despite this, the character was contemplating moving abroad after looking for jobs.

These efforts intensified in recent weeks as he kept it all a secret from his mother Charity, and Tuesday’s episode saw Noah inform close friend Jacob Sugden that he had landed a job in Dusseldorf.

Though he was happy to have secured a job, Noah admitted that he was nervous about telling his mother given her own recent troubles. Jacob, however, suggested that she would be incredibly happy for him.

Charity, meanwhile, was in a jovial mood as she spoke with Mack, and she was soon pleasantly surprised when Noah told her the good news. She couldn’t hide her sadness when her son said that he’d be flying to Germany the following day, however.

Charity looked disconsolate when at the café, and had an emotional conversation with Nicola. She explained that she felt “selfish” for wanting him to stay despite how “proud” she was of Noah, though Nicola explained that this was natural.

As Charity returned home, she tearfully began packing Noah’s things, and Noah apologised for not telling his mother sooner. He asked her if she wanted him to stay, but Charity maintained that he should pursue the opportunity.

Despite that, Noah shared that he would stay while his mother was going through a difficult time, and said that another opportunity would soon come his way. The pair hugged it out, with Charity becoming emotional.

Noah, however, still looked as if he wanted to, but it remains to be seen if he makes the journey to Germany. Will his wish of another opportunity come true, or will he stay in Yorkshire for a while yet?
