Wait… Has Big Brother Season 28‘s first showmance already come to an end?

With the season barely underway, two houseguests had already found themselves in a Big Brother showmance after just a few days. Lyric Medeiros and Rome Seymour’s relationship has grabbed the attention of Big Brother fans for many reasons. Their interactions on the live feeds were pure entertainment for those who love a little messy romance. But now that Rome is Head of Household Rick Devens‘ target, the two seem to have staged a breakup.

So, are Lyric, 25, and Rome, 28, in a full-blown relationship at this point? Did they call things quits just a week in? Swooon is unpacking all the juiciest bits about Lyric and Rome’s romance so far in Big Brother Season 28. Given how hot and heavy things have gotten, we’re in for a wild ride with these two.

Are Big Brother 28’s Lyric and Rome in a relationship?

Season 28’s first showmance has gotten serious very quickly. On July 19, Rome admitted to Devens that he is in love with Lyric. He told the HOH, “I’m in love with her […] I really do [want to pursue something outside the house with her]. I haven’t felt this way about a girl in my life. And I’ve been in 4 or 5 major relationships. She’s the sweetest, most selfless, cutest human being ever.”

When they were in bed together during Week 1, Rome asked Lyric, “Do you think we would actually work in the outside world?” Lyric responded, “I think it’s Day 4 in here, but yeah.” Even though $750,000 is on the line, Rome and Lyric already seem preoccupied with each other and plans for their relationship outside the house.

Outside of Big Brother, Rome is a pickleball coach living in Traverse City, Michigan. Lyric is an attorney based in Hawaii.

Did Rome and Lyric break up?

During Devens’ HOH, he decided to target Rome by putting Lyric on the block. After that, it appears that Rome and Lyric staged a breakup. In a live feed clip, she told Melody Morris, “Everyone’s saying how we broke up… We have to. I’m on the block, he’s not. You know, he put me there. I love him — not like, you know what I mean — I care for him… But he put me on the block. I can’t be associated with him. It’s not safe to have a showmance on this show.”

While these two seem smitten, they might be putting their showmance on the back burner, at least for now. Whether that’s due to other houseguests’ theories or their own strategy is anyone’s guess. During her exit interview with Swooon, first eliminated houseguest Ashley Trail spilled that everyone seemed to know about their showmance, but nobody cared about it too much during Week 1.

Where do we even begin with Lyric and Rome? During a private chat on the live feeds, Rome and Lyric were heavily flirting with each other. Lyric even called Rome a “hottie,” and he gushed that she was “so cute.” He did bring up how she was following him around everywhere, and she said she would stop.

When Rome mentioned that Haley Thogmartin had been trying to flirt with him all day, Lyric acted like she didn’t care. “Oh, go for it,” she told Rome, who was not pleased with that response. Before walking away, Rome did give Lyric a kiss on the cheek.

Later, Rome and Lyric cuddled in a bunk bed together. They were all over each other as they spoke in whispers. “Tell me what you love about me… I’m joking,” Lyric said. At one point on the live feeds, you could hear Rome and Lyric kissing. On July 17, Rome and Lyric could be seen passionately making out in the storage room. However, with the threat of eviction looming, these two have cooled off.
