Sydney also revealed that the writing team had a clear vision for the scene’s tone: “The writing team came up with the idea that dance is a way to represent something so intimate and innocent at the same time.”

Liam added that the movement-based storytelling gave the scene a power that neither he nor Sydney anticipated: “The way that you tell a story through movement was something we found quite powerful.”

A Story Built With Expert Guidance

Coronation Street didn’t take any of this lightly. The production team worked with specialist organisations including the Institute for Addressing Strangulation (IFAS), The Stroke Association, and Safeline — experts who reviewed scripts, consulted with cast, and ensured the portrayal of both non-fatal strangulation and stroke recovery was accurate and responsible.

Following the episode’s broadcast, Sydney Martin took to social media to share behind-the-scenes images from the shoot. “This one means a lot to me,” she wrote, describing the storyline as one of the most challenging and meaningful projects of her career.
